It was this weekend that took place, in the Exhibition Park of Braga, the largest exhibition of LEGO constructions of the Iberian Peninsula, recognized and supported by the LEGO Group. This exhibition was organized by Plug and InvestBraga.
An exhibition that lasted three days, constituted by about 7 million pieces spread over some of the most fascinating buildings, from classic sets sold by LEGO, to personal constructions by collectors!
I had the opportunity to visit the exhibition on Friday 17th, and 18th, Saturday, and we can't even compare the number of visitors! There were queuing to buy the tickets and to enter ...
Let's start by talking about what we could find in this immensity of pieces, from constructions alluding to the movie "Pirates of the Caribbean" to the award winning AXA Stadium!
Upon entry, there were so many tables of exposure that I dind't know where to start ... On our left were the "stalls" where you could buy LEGO sets, minifigures, buy popcorn or even visit the robotics bank of Alberto Sampaio Secondary School where we could talk to the current title champions of FLL (First Lego League).
In the first tables I observed, I saw constructions that were very interesting, like the American Wild West, Hogwarts from "Harry Potter" films! In this first phart also stood a huge table with motorized parts that consisted in making small balls travell from one side to another through numerous obstacles, with falls and rises, carts, stairs, etc ...
In the central part we could find a miniature city, with airports, trains, houses and even skyscrapers! It was also possible to see all minifuguras released so far by LEGO, including the rare Mr. Gold ceded by a collector !!
Numerous personal constructions, sets from the famous "LEGO Movie", and also some of the famous monuments like the Eiffel Tower, Tower Bridge, and the well-known by lovers of LEGO, Taj Mahal with 5000 pieces and a retail value of 2000 € since it stopped beeing made 4 years ago!
Also placed in the center, was a bank about the set MINDSTORMS and LEGO Technic. Several demos of robots were made, and it was one of the busiest parts of the whole exhibition!
As extras for visitors were also present exhibitions of horses, scale electric trains, portraits in LEGO pieces and still be close to a military vehicle. Finally, all visitors had the opportunity to contribute to the construction of a huge mosaic portraying the monument of Bom Jesus. (unfortunately when I made my visit, this had not yet been finished, but you can check the facebook page of the event to see it finished!
It was certainly an event well done and I hope that it could happen again soon, bigger and with even more pieces!
