FOLLOW3R (English version)

Continuing reading the book "The LEGO MINDSTORMS EV3 Laboratory", it has arrived the turn of another very interesting robot based on ROV3R from the book by Daniele  Benedettelli.
This is a very simple to assemble and to program robot (although it's program is a little more complex than previous robot's), but it is a very interesting robot to have a good time after it has been assembled.
The purpose of this robot is to reach the infrared beacon, measuring distances and heading. Depending on their relative distance, its speed will also be changing. As we shall see below.
It is again composed by two large motors, and a base for the intelligent brick and the sensors! In this case, the sensor used is the infrared sensor, which allows the robot to know its relative location to the beacon.

Now lets go to the part of the program! The program is a bit different from all the others already posted here on the blog! Notice something different in the picture? Yes, the yellow block and the red blocks! The yellow block allows us access to "raw" values of the sensor such as distance, heading and if it is within range or not. Therefore it is very easy to understand this program, despite several wires coming out and entering each block. The wires coming from the yellow ,lead first to appear onscreen values while the program runs (as you can see the blocks display (green)), and second the values lead to action blocks, which allow the robot to move. The farther from the beacon, the faster it moves! If the beacon is out of scope, it stops until it is within range again! You can verify this by the bluish wire that stops at the logic part of the "switch".
Let us now see a video where we can see this little robot chasing the beacon.
